December News
So hello again. Once again it seems the month has got shorter and surely it was only a week since I sent the November newsletter?? I hope you are all keeping well and the upcoming festive season with all its nonsense(!)is not causing too much stress.
Lots to tell you once again including how to vote for us in the Christmas window competition and a couple more offers for you. So crack open that box of mince pies – no, its not too early for that- and read on.
It appears that many of you are really embracing the hand made Christmas this year. The speed the Christmas fabric has been flying out the door is proof of that! We love seeing your gifts and creativity. Just today one of the ladies who had attended the Brompton bag workshop brought in two more she had made as presents. The recipients will be delighted with them I am sure.
Advent calendars
If you were planning to make an advent calendar but have run out of time, we have five, premade samples, ready to go at just £25 each . Pop in to the shop or give us a call.

Festive workshops
We do have spaces in a few of the December workshops so see what we can tempt you with. The PJ bottoms are a perfect beginners project and make a great gift as do the festive placemats. Maybe, you just want to hand sew – have a look on the website and find something that appeals???
Shopping evening
Coming up on Thursday 5th December is the Festive evening in the village. Lots of the shops are open late for you along with all the usual festive offerings .Here in the shop, alongside some special offers, the workshop area will host Greta with her textile art offering you a great opportunity to find unique handcrafted gifts for your loved ones.

Christmas window competition
Now I know last month I was asking you to nominate Stitch for the sewing shop awards, and many thanks for those of you that did. I should hear mid December if we have got through to the next round.
Anyhow, this month is all about the Christmas window competition that Horsham District council run each year. If you love our window and think it worthy of your support, please click below once voting opens on December 2nd.

Quilting

In mid November Lucy, our dressmaking tutor, and I spent a weekend away with Hazel, a quilting tutor, learning all things patchwork and quilting.
Despite nearly missing our turnings on the journey up to Norfolk due to chatting so much, we had a very productive weekend and learnt lots. Lucy’s sister and my friend Gill were also with us so there was much chatter and laughter too especially when the wrong bits were stitched together and the unpickers had to come out. (no good sewing project goes without a smidge of unpicking!!)
Pictured above/below are our first blocks and we are very pleased with them . Lucy made hers from some Kaffe Fassett fabric she was keen to use and I took fabric from the shop that I love.

We are hoping to deliver a basic quilting course in the early spring as so many of you have asked for one. In the meantime, why not come along and make some quilted placemats with Hazel on Thursday 12th December? Everything is provided in the cost of the course, so come along and enjoy 3 hours of sewing.
